AMEA Tanzania, in partnership with the National Economic Empowerment Council (NEEC), is proud to present a transformative Strategic Roadmap for Agriculture-Focused Business Development Services (2025-2030). This collaborative initiative aims to revolutionize Tanzania’s agricultural ecosystem by professionalizing farmer organizations and agri-SMEs through improved Business Development Services (BDS). Launched in July 2024, AMEA Tanzania is working to address critical challenges in the BDS market, including quality inconsistencies, limited coordination among providers, and high dependency on donor funding. The roadmap outlines an inclusive, evidence-based approach to creating a more synergistic, quality-driven, and scalable BDS system that will ultimately empower farmers to receive a living income for fair working conditions and inspire the next generation to invest in sustainable farming as a business.
The Tanzania BDS Roadmap (2025-2030) is a strategic framework designed to transform the agricultural Business Development Services ecosystem by enhancing support for Producer Organizations and Agri-SMEs.
The document identifies three key market system changes to achieve the vision of improved synergy, quality, and scale in BDS delivery:
The roadmap outlines specific initiatives for implementation beginning in 2025, including BDS Guidelines finalization, comprehensive provider mapping, creation of an online BDS marketplace, strengthening of the BDS Association, development of standardized training materials, and annual learning events to foster continuous improvement.
Each initiative includes measurable KPIs and assigns clear responsibility to key stakeholders. The implementation will be led by AMEA Tanzania under ANSAF in partnership with NEEC and other stakeholders, emphasizing that system change requires collective action across Tanzania’s agricultural sector.
